"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" is now playable via internet browser

Decompilations have opened up all kinds of possibilities and technical wonders when it comes to porting games to other devices that they weren't officially designed for, and one of the most impressive and notorious examples of this are the ports to the SEGA Dreamcast of both Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which took some major reworks and technical prowess to achieve them, and much more so to get them running at playable framerates.

But there are times when porting a game goes beyond video game consoles, and sometimes it gets ported to the most interesting of places, with the latest being browser port of Vice City, meaning the game runs entirely through the internet browser, all thanks to the reVC decompilation.

Gaming website DOS Zone has achieved such an endeavour, with their efforts being worked on making the entirety of Vice City playable through an internet browser. DOS Zone is a website ran by gaming enthusiasts in which they "adapt historical gaming heritage" by porting titles to browser and making them accessible to everyone.

While the guys over at DOS Zone have indeed ported over the entirety of Vice City, playing the game through the browser does come with some caveats, as DOS Zone does try to work alongside copyright law:



As mentioned above, players can play a demo of the game running through the browser, and those that do wish to continue playing through DOS Zone the full game, can do so by providing the original files for Vice City, in this case, "gtavc.exe", and the website will perform a checksum run-through to verify that the provided file is correct, and then let the player continue playing with the full game unlocked.

A near-complete new dump for the Resident Evil beta demo for the Game Boy Color has been found

The original Resident Evil game from 1996 caused quite the stir in the gaming sphere, with the term "Survival Horror" being cemented when it dropped for the original PlayStation, with other titles like Silent Hill really delving into other aspects of what horror games could be.

Since then, the game got plenty of ports to other consoles, not as many as Resident Evil 2, and much less than the original Resident Evil 4 of course, but it still got plenty, like a port to the Sega Saturn and one by SourceNext for the PC, as well as having 3 different versions in the original PlayStation, the original 1996 release, followed by the Director's Cut in 1997 and then the infamous Director's Cut Dual Shock version in 1998, which used a completely different soundtrack, and the last official port of the game came in the form of Resident Evil Deadly Silence for the Nintendo DS, which added a lot of new features while still retaining the look and gameplay from the original game.

But there was yet another port that never saw the light of day, and one such port was one planned for the Game Boy Color by Software House HotGen back in 1999, but due to the limitations of the hardware, Capcom cancelled the project, but it didn't remain in the shadows, as back in 2012 a beta build of said project came to light, although with a lot of its content still missing, like missing intro titles for the publishers, a debug menu being available, and the game could not be finished with any of the two characters (Chris or Jill).

However, another build has recently been found by Games That Weren't, with them claiming that the shared build that was found is one near the moment of cancellation, with a lot of previously unseen footage and information being available in this new build. Interestingly, this new build seems to have the debug menu removed, this being a hint that it was probably in a close-to-finished state, the Tyrant can now be found in this build, as well as some of the game's ending sequences. There's still some slight missing data, like:

Zombies not having a proper death animation
Hunter sprite data is there but there's no Hunter enemies present
Wesker and Barry sharing sprites
Some sprites have wrong colouring
Some cutscenes are unfinished
Additionally, according to several players online, Jill's campaign can be finished from start to end, albeit with some bugs here and there, while Chris' campaign seems to be stuck at the section of the game where a Flamethrower needs to be placed to open a door.

'Dune: Awakening' free Chapter 3 update and new DLC announced

Dune: Awakening, Funcom's survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune, is set to receive its biggest free update to date: Chapter 3. It brings a suite of improvements and additions based on player requests and feedback. This includes one of the most popular requests: providing additional progression pathways once players reach tier 6. Chapter 3 also brings combat improvements and continues where the main story left off in Chapter 2. A trailer was aired that summarizes the new additions in the free update:
Funcom is also releasing the Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC at the same time as Chapter 3. It is included at no extra cost in the Season Pass and lets players have access to more stuff to build with. More specifically, it includes 73 building pieces and 17 decorations inspired by the Imperium’s Smugglers, as well as a dedicated stillsuit set, a light and heavy armor set, weapon variants, swatches, and emotes.

Capcom is hosting a contest for fans to design a Robot Master for the upcoming "Mega Man: Dual Override" videogame

During the Game Awards, Capcom announced the long-awaited return of the Blue Bomber to the gaming scene in the form of a brand new game, titled "Mega Man: Dual Override". After the initial game reveal, the official Mega Man account on YouTube released a video where they announced a Robot Master Design Contest.


The contest specifies that people interested in submitting their design should focus on a design for a Robot Master that specifically has a "right arm with immense suction powers", and Capcom provides a design model from which to use as a base for the design submission of the Robot Master:

People interested in submitting their design should do so on X (formerly Twitter), and they should follow the official Mega Man account on X.
Additionally, in order to be eligible for the contest, the user must:

Be at least 13 years old or above that age.
Submit their design with a post on X that includes the following, all within the same post:
The phrase "Robot Master Design"
#MegaManDO and #DesignARobotMaster hashtags
Some information about their design
Those 3 specific points should all be included within the same post. It should include the "Robot Master Design" phrase, the two hashtags and the design information within the same post in order for it to be considered for the contest. Failing to do so will make the design ineligible for entry.

The contest officially begun on December 11th, and will continue all the way up until the new year arrives, closing on January 1st, 2026 at 11:59 pm PST.

"Resurrection: A Biohazard Story" fanfilm gets its first official trailer with the original RE1 cast

Following on the footsteps for their most recent short film "The Keeper's Diary" based on the original file from RE1, which featured Charlie Kraslavsky, who originally played Chris Redfield in the original RE1 cutscenes, as the Keeper in the film, the people behind the "Residence of Evil" have been hard at work on their upcoming short film, which will feature the original cast from RE1 in live action, with each actor reprising their roles from 30 years ago.

The plot for "Resurrection: A Biohazard Story" takes place in 2021 in a town called Rosa Enferma located in Mexico that has been the victim of a recent outbreak. The film sees all the survivors from the Spencer Mansion incident in 1998 being brought back into action to fight back an old nemesis, one previously thought to be dead... twice.


Unfortunately, the original actress for Jill, the elusive "Inezh", is not returning to reprise her role and will instead be recast, and while she has indeed been found (and she apparently even worked on a role for 007: Agent Under Fire), most likely she's not interested in being involved with this, but as for the rest of the cast, all of them will be reprising the role as follows:

New Street Fighter movie gets debut trailer and cast reveal

Shown at The Game Awards was the first look at the upcoming Street Fighter film. Though it's less than a minute long, it shows a lot, both of the tone of the movie, and its cast. Referred to as just "Street Fighter Movie", it'll be in theaters next year on October 16, 2026.

Visit Your Salvage Yard: Log in to GTA Online and head to your Salvage Yard business.
Select "The Gangbanger Robbery": Check the planning computer. You are looking for The Gangbanger Robbery mission.
Target Vehicle: The target for this robbery is the Vapid Clique.
Complete the Heist: Finish the robbery setup and finale.
Claim the Vehicle: Once the job is done, do not sell the car or salvage it for parts. Instead, choose the option to Claim the Vehicle.

Tekken Mega Music Mix Dropped by Series Boss Harada, and It's 30 Years of Pure Nostalgia

Alongside the announcement that he's leaving Bandai Namco, legendary Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada has dropped a treat for fans in the form of a 60-minute music mix.
The track, which at the time of writing is only available on SoundCloud, basically covers 30 years of Tekken history, mashing countless pieces of music together from across the series.
If you've been playing Tekken since the beginning, then this truly will feel like an exercise in pure nostalgia. Harada says he edited the track himself; it even incorporates iconic sound effects and voice samples.
"For 30 years I kept saying, 'I’ll do it someday,' and never once performed as a DJ at a tournament event," Harada writes on social media.
"So instead, I will be releasing — for the first and last time — a 60-minute TEKKEN DJ-style nonstop mix (DJ mix), personally edited by myself. Listening to it brings back many memories," he concludes.
We think it's a great little gift, and again, it'll hit longtime Tekken fans in a similar way to what Harada's describing.

New Tomb Raider Reveal Confirmed for The Game Awards

The next Tomb Raider game will be officially unveiled at The Game Awards later this week, Geoff Keighley has revealed.
In a tweet ahead of the show, Keighley said on social media we'll get "a look at the future of one of gaming's most iconic franchises" this Thursday. "This is one you won't want to miss."

This next Tomb Raider game is expected to be a completely original entry that's its own standalone thing, and isn't tied to any of the previous storylines. Crystal Dynamics, the developer making the game, has actually been hit by layoffs as of late, but in terms of the game at least, it appears the studio is ready to show what it's working on.

Metroid Prime 4 On Switch 1 Impresses Digital Foundry - "Nigh-Imperceptible Dips"

We already know that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a technical showcase on Switch 2, and we're sure many of you have spent the weekend exploring Viewros on the new console over the weekend. But for those of you who are still clinging on to your Switch 1 and wondering whether Samus' brand new adventure holds up on the old system, fear not.
Digital Foundry has taken a look at the Switch 1 release of Metroid Prime 4 and is pretty much in agreement with us on the surprising quality of the release. You can read their impressions on their shiny new website, or listen to the trio talk about the game on this week's DF Direct Weekly (up top).
Leave it to Retro Studios, hey? The game has understandably taken a hit on Switch 1, as you'd expect, but Digital Foundry says "Our resolution and frame-rate analysis tools tell a positive story for one of Switch 1's prettiest games yet." That's high praise indeed, with much of the positivity from the team coming from just what the developers have managed to squeeze out of the old system.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Prime 4 on Switch 1 is the solid 60fps performance, which Digital Foundry feels confident enough to say"we classify this as a 'locked 60fps' game on all Switch consoles." The only drops the folks note are a handful in the open-world bike sections, and they're extremely few and far between.
Even though image quality takes a hit — pixel count is around "504p for geometry, 576p for Samus' visor", which is lower than 2023's Metroid Prime Remastered on Switch — there's a lot more going on here. While the pixels might be lower, the level-of-detail in the environment, shadows, and particular effects are "seemingly identical" to the Switch 2 version.
So that cut in pixel count and visual smoothness is to allow Retro to still give the full experience to players on the older consoles. You'll be missing some detail and smoothness, and you'll have to put up with worse texture filtering, an apparent lack of anti-aliasing, and fuzzy, jagged edges and textures in places. But it's an impressive experience on the Switch 1, all the same.

Heck, we said so ourselves last week: "if you’re not looking to upgrade anytime soon and you’re keen to jump into Samus’ latest adventure, it's well worth picking up, as there's a fantastic game to be had."
Of course, the Switch 2 version is the version to get, and Digital Foundry were full of praise for that release. You're getting a good game regardless of where you're playing it, essentially.

Skate Story Review (Switch 2)

“My games are concepts and feelings that I can't describe in words,” solo developer Sam Eng said in a 2024 interview for Chanel, after winning the brand’s prestigious Next Prize. “Everything I encounter, I try to portray in a gameplay or audio-visual experience.”
These quotes give a taste of how Skate Story has been designed. It’s driven by an artistic impulse that tempts me to say ‘It won’t be for everyone’ (here I’m thinking of the offbeat narrative that ends in an abstract sequence a little like the finale of 2001: A Space Odyssey), but I hesitate. It’s clear that Sam Eng is having fun and not taking himself too seriously, and I truly enjoyed my playthrough.
You take on the role of a demon kept awake in the underworld by the bright light of a moon. To fix this problem — and also to satisfy your hunger — you decide to eat the moon. This in turn leads to signing a contract with the devil to obtain a skateboard, all so you can reach the moon faster. And next, as you explore the underworld, you’re drawn into side quests to meet the whims of some offbeat characters - rabbits, frogs, skulls, a disembodied philosopher head, even a talking pillow creature.

Many of the fetch quests and other demands reminded me of the overworld busywork of No More Heroes (an impression helped by some similar sound cues) – but with a much more laid-back energy.
Over roughly seven hours and nine different chapters, you test your skating skills to stop gas seeping from drains, to clean up obelisks so a giant rubbish bag can be taken out, to locate and dry the devil’s washing, and much more besides. You might have to collect letters for a pigeon distractedly finishing up a screenplay, or find and repair a gemstone for a demonic penguin. The action takes part in an afterlife decked out with laundrettes, subways, cafés, and surreal houses. It all sounds odd, but it works.
These tasks frequently escalate into challenges where you have to perform a certain sequence of moves, or battle moons and ‘fuss’ (underworld anti-skating authorities) by performing and chaining tricks and grinds. The gameplay variety is rounded out by kinetic skate courses – routes you navigate through combinations of grinds, slides, ollies, and more, avoiding lips and risky gaps to prevent crashing and shattering into pieces while racing toward supernatural archways.

Timers and other challenges add urgency, but Skate Story is rarely difficult. Instead, the real draw lies in the overall presentation. Eng — who made the game over six years — has spoken of his desire to capture the feeling of night-time skating through New York, his home, while listening to synth-wave music. To achieve this, he’s collaborated with musicians Blood Cultures, and he pretty much nails his intentions.
Combined with the low-fi crystalline visual style and an expertly crafted feel to the skating itself — complete with a convincingly shaky ‘skate video’ camera — there are passages of Skate Story that are delightful to play through. You feel as if it’s you out there landing tricks, letting loose, enjoying music with the glittering lights of a strange underworld surrounding you.
And I’ll go further with my praise: the climax features an extended sequence with audiovisual ambition that I’ve not seen anywhere else. One ‘boss’ section, with pumping drums, and some visual touches I won’t spoil, will go down as one of my favourite video game moments in years. It’s the kind of idiosyncratic experience that likely only ever happens with solo developers. There were a few other surprises too, but — yes — I've already revealed too much.

It's also true to say that I’ve never seen a game with a graphical style quite like Skate Story’s. One frustration is that the glass-like nature of the protagonist and the appealing lo-fi fuzz are difficult to do justice in still images. The characters and buildings give a thrifty sense of making the most out of the materials at hand, but the overall design is so memorable and the animations — especially while skating — are so strong that any visual limitations have been turned into strengths. In motion it looks lovely, full of ambient spectral mist and cinematic ambition.
But…and there is a small 'but'. My only real complaint is that, once I reached the final credits, I felt the skating could have been pushed a little further. The final section is the best part of the game, but it also represents the only moment of real challenge. Despite the authentic-feeling skating, I was never really forced to master much more than chaining a few tricks together.
Really, though, I’m nitpicking. I was just left wanting more of the really good stuff. Ultimately, Sam Eng has achieved something very strong with Skate Story. Performance is excellent on the Switch 2, both handheld and docked – although I gravitated toward the ‘performance’ mode over ‘quality’. The smooth frame rate suits the gameplay, and the low-fi presentation makes any reduction in fidelity unnoticeable unless you compare images side by side. Even then, the difference is marginal.
Conclusion
There are moments of gameplay during the climax of Skate Story that are some of the most visceral, original, and downright impressive that I’ve experienced for a very long time. Its great-feeling skating isn’t always pushed to its limits, but the sheer craft, personality, and audiovisual flair throughout largely compensate.
Overall, Skate Story is an enjoyable, offbeat adventure game with a striking, unique identity. It might not be difficult, but if its tone speaks to you, you’ll find plenty to appreciate for its relatively short duration: sliding at speed around corners, landing shove-its, jumping across crevices, grinding through crystalline underworlds, and, yes, eating moons – all to a superb soundtrack.

The demo announcement kicks off Playtonic's 10-day countdown to the release of the Yooka-Replaylee physical, which launches on 18th December. This boxed release bundles in a map and some stickers alongside the pièce de résistance, the full game on a cartridge.

Xbox Winter Demo Fest Now Live, 20+ Games Available To Play For Free

The Xbox Winter Demo Fest for 2025 (otherwise known as the Indie Selects Demo Fest) has now kicked off, allowing you to play over 20 games for free. It's not officially being promoted at the time of writing, but we've done some sleuthing and discovered these 20+ titles that are part of it — with 30+ set to be announced in total.
With that in mind, we'll be updating this list as more demos become available over the next 24 hours.
As of December 9th, you'll see a tab for the Xbox Demo Fest on your console's dashboard. Before then, you can use the links below, navigate to the "demos" section of the Xbox Store, or search for the ones you want to try manually.

Xbox Dev Reveals That Sony Asked About Microsoft Flight Sim Going To PS5 Years Ago

Back in September, we learnt that Microsoft Flight Simulator was jetting off to PS5 this year - and now an interesting interview with an Xbox developer talks about the series' interesting journey to PlayStation platforms.
Speaking with XDA, Microsoft's Flight Sim lead dev Jorg Neumann talked about the upcoming port and how it all started. Neumann says that he suggested moving the series over to PS5 after 2020's Microsoft Flight Simulator (an idea that MS shot down), before a Sony dev came back to him a little while later.
Neumann says that shortly after this exchange, the team started to plan for PS5 - after finishing up the Xbox and PC versions of the 2024 release of course. The MSFS developer also says they "think that really kicked off a whole avalanche of Xbox titles coming to PlayStation", although we're not entirely sure on that one given that the multiplatform shift seems more related to the ActBlizz deal than anything else.
Either way, it's pretty interesting that Sony itself suggested getting MSFS on PS5, and indeed that some internal Microsoft devs actually discussed it way before the company went full multiplatform. MSFS has ended up on PS5 in the end, then, with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 making its debut today, December 8th.

Award-Winning Slice-Of-Life Soccer Game 'Despelote' Comes To Switch This Week

One of the most unique a beautiful games of the year — despelote — is all about the beautiful game itself and the communities it helps build, and it's coming to Switch on 11th December in North America for just $14.99.
Japan will get it on 18th December, while the rest of the world will have to wait for kick-off on 13th January 2026.
despelote isn't your typical soccer game where you're kicking about a ball to win matches; this is a slice-of-life narrative-driven experience which is all about the importance of soccer to Ecuador and, in particular to eight-year-old Julián, in the run up to the World Cup.
In despelote, you'll dribble, pass, and shoot the ball around Quito, but not for victory — simply, to connect. How will people react? Will Ecuador qualify for the World Cup? And how does everyone feel about the beautiful game, of their city, their country?
It's a short game too, clocking in at around 2 hours, but from looking at reviews back when the game launched on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox in May, it'll stick with you long after. Here's a rundown of what toe expect from the game:

"My Staff Have Had Customers Threatening To Rip Their Heads Off" - Retailers And Collectors Tell Of Pokémon TCG Woes

The fact that the Pokémon Trading Card Game has created its own mini-economy isn't new news – back when it launched in the late '90s, there were accusations that it was encouraging gambling amongst kids, with many schools banning the cards from their playgrounds.
In more recent years, however, the market for collectable cards has risen to hitherto unseen levels of insanity, driven by the fact that the children who grew up with Pokémon in the '90s and 2000s are now adults and can invest heavily in picking up the rarest examples – and the high prices have predictably encouraged in opportuniustic scalpers moving in, drawn by the promise of turning small purchases into hundreds of dollars.
The end result, rather sadly, is that younger Pokémon fans are being denied the chance to grab cards for themselves.
British news outlet The Guardian has been speaking to retailers and fans to get their take on the current state of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in the UK, and it's not particularly pleasant reading.

Paramount Makes Rival Bid For Warner Bros. After Netflix's $82 Billion Offer, Includes Game Studios

Update [Mon 8th Dec 2025, 8:15am]: Paramount Skydance has launched a rival bid for "the entire company" of Warner Bros. Discovery — including streaming, TV networks and its gaming division — following Netflix's own agreement from last Friday (via BBC).
Paramount is offering $30 per share directly to shareholders, stating that this is a "superior alternative" to Netflix's own. The mass media company values Warner Bros. Discovery at $108.4 billion.
“We’re really here to finish what we started,” Paramount chief executive David Ellison told CNBC, telling the station that this offer was "anti-competitive" and that Netflix's is "a horrible deal for Hollywood."
Both Netflix and Warner Bros. stated on Friday that they support the original deal, which is valued at $82.7 billion. As we mentioned in our original report below, this deal will include Warner Bros. own gaming division, where major IPs such as the Mortal Kombat and Batman: Arkham series are based.
Sounds like this is going to be a fraught process...
Original Story: In a staggering piece of news this Friday, streaming giant Netflix has announced that it has entered an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery to acquire Warner Bros. in a deal that's valued at roughly $82.7 billion — an equity value of $72 billion.
Netflix is specifically acquiring Warner Bros.' Streaming & Studios company, which it created in June 2025 and includes including Game of Thrones, the DC Universe, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and platforms such as HBO and HBO Max and Warner Bros. Games.
The media company doesn't mention WB's gaming division at all in its press release. However, Game Developer has confirmed with a WB spokesperson that "the recently-restructured video game division... will be joining Netflix."
Currently, Warner Bros. Games includes a number of studios such as Rocksteady (Batman: Arkham series), NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), TT Games (LEGO), Portkey Games, and Avalanche Studios (Harry Potter), along with WB's studios in Boston, Montréal, New York, and San Francisco.
It's a huge deal that Netflix expect to take around 12-18 months, but that's if it goes through. We know how long other huge acquisitions have taken. Plus regulators are more than likely to get involved. Paramount had previously attempted to purchase the studio in October, which was rejected.

If successful, Warner Bros. shareholders will receive $27.75 a share along with stock in Netflix and the company expects to make savings of around $2-$3 billion by the third year.
The deal could have a huge impact on these studios, and is yet another example of consolidation in the video game industry at a time when layoffs, game studio sales, and closures are rampant.
In fact, earlier this week, reports emerged that Netflix was selling Spry Fox, developer of Cozy Grove, back to the owners.

The Yakuza / Like a Dragon franchise is now officially 20 years old, and RGG Studio has produced a rather touching little video to celebrate.
Said video shows the past 20 years of a man's life, as he goes from being an overwhelmed university student to a stressed out office worker.
Granted, this doesn't sound very celebratory, but at each pivotal point in his life, he recalls words of wisdom from Kazuma Kiryu himself, and he finds the strength to push on. He's even got Kaz's chin scruff by the end of it.
It may seem crazy to think that the series has been around for so long, but then we can't forget that it's only really caught on in the west over the last decade.
It was Yakuza 0 (released in 2017 outside of Japan) that put the property on the map for many, but Kiryu's been kicking bad guys to bits since the PS2 era. Indeed, the very first Yakuza launched all the way back on the 8th December, 2005.
Yakuza / Like a Dragon has come a long way since, as evidenced by the fact that three Yakuza re-releases are out today on PS5. Yakuza 0 Director's Cut, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are now available on Sony's current-gen system, while Yakuza Kiwami 3 is still locked in for a 12th February 2026 launch.
