GTA 6's Netflix Gameplay Reveal Pulled In Nearly 4 Million Live Viewers, Setting a New Gaming Benchmark

The livestreamed reaction to Grand Theft Auto VI's Netflix debut has turned out to be one of the biggest moments in gaming broadcast history. According to new data from Stream Charts, co-streams of the GTA VI Extended Look peaked at just under 3.97 million concurrent viewers, making it the largest live gaming event of 2026 so far — edging out Summer Game Fest's previous high of 3.81 million.

The 27-minute trailer premiered exclusively on Netflix, putting it behind a paywall before it eventually made its way to platforms like YouTube. Even so, nothing stopped creators from reacting to it live, and thousands did. Netflix itself has already confirmed that the video crossed 30 million views on its own platform within the first few days.

A Reveal Spread Across Thousands of Channels

Stream Charts' figures show the reveal's live viewership was spread across more than 9,000 individual streamers, who collectively racked up roughly 5.2 million hours watched. IlloJuan hosted the single biggest stream, peaking at around 233,500 concurrent viewers, with Rubius close behind at just over 191,000 and IShowSpeed rounding out the top three with nearly 178,000.

Twitch dominated the moment, accounting for 44% of total hours watched and hosting the largest number of participating channels. YouTube took a 34.8% share, while Kick claimed 20.2%.

How Fans Reacted in Chat

Stream Charts also dug into chat sentiment during the event, analyzing over 100,000 GTA VI-related messages posted across livestreams in a three-hour window. Most of that activity was fairly neutral — fans repeating the game's name, talking about a new dedicated GTA VI category launching on Twitch, and answering each other's questions rather than expressing strong opinions either way.

Positive reactions made up roughly 11-15% of the conversation, largely centered on praise for the game's visuals and gameplay footage. Negative sentiment was slightly higher, in the 17-20% range, though most of that frustration was aimed at streaming hiccups on Twitch and Netflix rather than the game itself. That said, a portion of viewers did take direct aim at the presentation, with some comparing the scope of what they saw to little more than a pricier expansion of GTA V.

The numbers underline just how much anticipation is still building ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI's release.
