Rockstar Games has pushed a new patch for GTA V and GTA Online, and this one didn't come with any fanfare — it quietly strips a well-liked track off one of the game's radio stations.
The change was first flagged by dataminer Tex2, who spotted that Tuesday morning's patch removes Moloko's "The Time Is Now" from Non Stop Pop FM. The song has been a station staple for years, and its disappearance didn't go unnoticed — fans took to social media almost immediately to voice their frustration.
So far, the removal only affects the Enhanced version of GTA V on PC. Both GTA V Legacy on PC and the console versions remain untouched for now, though if this comes down to a licensing issue, it wouldn't be surprising to see the track pulled from those platforms eventually too. Rockstar has been here before — GTA IV lost songs from its soundtrack over the years for similar reasons — so losing a track from a game now well into its second decade isn't exactly shocking.
Music licenses for games typically run five to ten years, and GTA V is now 13 years old, well past the usual window. Rockstar could theoretically renew the license, but with GTA VI on the horizon, that seems like an unlikely investment. That said, the fact that only the PC Enhanced version has been affected leaves the door open — it's possible this is more of an administrative hiccup than a permanent cut, and the song could return once things are sorted out.
Rockstar did publish patch notes for the update, but they made no mention of the song's removal, leaving fans to piece together what happened from datamining and community reports alone.
